Chemical Peels Perth

Chemical peels offer multiple skin benefits as the controlled shedding of aged and damaged skin promotes the growth of new skin cells, revealing younger, softer, smoother skin.

Chemical Peels provide deep moisture to dry or dehydrated skin and can be personalised in strength to suit your skincare needs.

Our clinic in Perth offers comprehensive peel treatments that can be combined with other cosmetic skin therapies, including laser treatments and dermal fillers.

Ocean Cosmetics proudly uses a wide range of chemical peels, including anti-oxidant peels, skin rejuvenating peels and blemish-refining peels. An LED treatment can also be a practical addition to a peel to enhance results further. We recommend a course of several chemical peel treatments to produce the most stunning results for our patients.

Chemical peels treatment cost in Perth

Candidates thinking about getting a chemical peel should educate themselves on the various aspects that influence the overall cost of this facial rejuvenation procedure.

There are several chemical peel types, ranging from superficial to medium and deep peels, and the price of these will vary greatly depending on their intensity. The difference in costs for each peel is based on factors such as the use of our supplies and rooms, our therapist’s time, and any given products to aid in recovery. Depending on the type of chemical peel, numerous sessions may be required to obtain the desired appearance.

Recovery can vary greatly and involve its own costs, including prescriptions, recovery garments, follow-up appointments and potentially time off work. A board-certified dermatologist or doctor with extensive experience will also cost more for their skills and knowledge, but this is highly recommended to minimise possible risks.

We highly recommend that patients book an initial consultation at our clinic to have our highly-skilled dermal clinicians and doctors assess their skin concerns and develop a comprehensive treatment plan. This will include the associated costs of the chemical peel treatment. Customised chemical peels with the inclusion of an LED treatment start at $140.

Prepping for your treatment

You will first have a consultation with our passionate and talented team of doctors and dermal therapists. During this consult, they will assist you in determining which treatment choice is ideal for you. They will inform you of the specifics of the peel you will be receiving and enquire about any potential conflicts, such as your use of acne medication, your susceptibility to scarring, and any previous chemical peels you may have had.

Before a chemical peel, you will need to:

  • For at least 48 hours, refrain from using any retinol topical medicine.
  • Tell your skin care professional about any medications you take.
  • Have not been taking acne medications for more than six months.
  • If you have a history of fever blisters or cold sores, take an antiviral drug to avoid a breakout around the mouth.
  • To enhance your treatment, use specialised creams such as glycolic acid lotion.
  • Avoid tanning and direct sun exposure for two weeks prior.
  • Apply a retinoid cream to avoid skin discolouration.
  • The week before the peel, avoid waxing, epilating, or using products that remove hair from the root. Bleaching your hair should also be avoided.
  • For one week before the peel, refrain from using facial scrubs and exfoliants.

“We love chemical peels at Ocean Cosmetics, mostly because they are a fast and effective pick-me-up for your skin. The treatment allows for relaxation time whilst effectively removing dead skin cells and promoting the growth of new skin cells. No matter your skin type, we have a peel that is right for you.”

Aftercare and recovery

Deep chemical peel

  • This type of recovery is not common and is only for the minority of chemical peels
  • A bandage will be applied to the treatment area and removed after several days. You should expect a healing period of 14-21 days.
  • As instructed by your doctor, take daily soaks and apply ointment after each soak.
  • Apply moisturiser after 14 days.
  • Avoid exposing your skin to the sun for the next three to six months.
  • Take antiviral medication for 10 to 14 days.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least two weeks.
  • You may only receive one deep peeling treatment at a time.

General aftercare for all chemical peels, no matter the depth, includes:

  • Avoid using exfoliating scrubs, astringents, and active products, including Vitamin A, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) for five to seven days after your treatment.
  • Apply a light moisturiser regularly in the days following your treatment to maintain levels of skin hydration. It is better to apply too much moisturiser than to let the skin dry out.
  • Apply SPF50+ daily. This is a non-negotiable step following all treatments due to increased photosensitivity.
  • Do not use a tanning bed or any other type of indoor or outdoor tanning technique whilst your skin is healing.

Risks and complications

Certain skin types may experience a temporary or permanent change in skin colour. Taking birth control pills, being pregnant, or having a family history of brownish discolouration on your face may raise your risk of experiencing atypical pigmentation. Additionally, there is a minimal chance of scarring in specific facial regions. Some patients may be more prone to scarring than others, but if scarring does occur, it can be effectively addressed. If you have a history of herpes outbreaks, there is a slight possibility that a cold sore could return. To lessen the likelihood of an outbreak, you may be recommended medication.

Tell your clinician before receiving a chemical peel if you have experienced keloid scarring, any unusual scarring, facial x-rays, or a history of cold sores. Although uncommon, infections are still a possibility.

How to choose the best chemical peels clinic in Perth

Although experienced beauticians also give medium and deep chemical peels, doctors and nurses are most suited to administer them. Consider who can best handle any potential side effects of the medication, should they arise, when determining who is best suited to provide it. Our team at Ocean Cosmetics are highly qualified and experienced nurses, dermal therapists, skin therapists, and doctors who focus on delivering a doctor-led approach to effective skincare treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the treatment involve?

A chemical peel is a clinical technique where we apply a safe chemical solution to the skin’s surface. The peel penetrates the layers of the skin and targets cells that cause conditions such as acne breakouts, traumatic pigmentation, and collagen loss.

Are there any side effects?

Mild to moderate erythema (redness), stinging, and peeling is most likely to occur, and the severity and duration of these effects will depend on the depth of your peel.

How long will it take to see results after the treatment?

In 1-7 days, the peel can improve skin texture and tone and decrease the appearance of fine wrinkles. The results will initially be subtle but will increase with repeated treatments.

How long does the treatment last?

We allow 30 mins for a chemical peel treatment. This often involves some time under the Healite LED Light Therapy machine.

Is there any downtime?

There is minimal downtime with light peels. However, with deeper peels, there is an expected downtime which can be discussed before your treatment.
